Running distance

(photo removed because of copyright)

THe route that i used to run in the past whenever i have the time. I always assume and roughly estimate the distance to be just 1.1km. So am i glad that the actual distance is 1.257km. That doesn't seem a lot of difference on foresight. However, i ran this route 23 rounds in training for my marathon last year. Estimated distance was 25.3km whereas the actual distance that i ran was actually close to 28.91km. Look at the difference in the distance btw prediceted and actual. It does amount to a lot. Okay, i hope that with the more precise distance, i would have a more well-rounded training. =P

(photo removed because of copyright)

Secondly, this is the distance, 1 round around expo. 0.962km. Cool. Just had a good run with weijie, jesslyn, gerald, serene last sun after church service. I can forsee that there would be more bonding sessions runs this year ahead. Great. May we strive on for our marathon plan.

The bible says.. (1 Cor 9)

24Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

25Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

I feel like i am the runner described above and i want and desire to excel in the things i do. I would want to *run* the race like what is describe above. I claim this. =P

GOd's promises and unfailing love

Was faced with some disappointment, setbacks and some other urgent and seemingly tedious problems in my life recently. I thought i couldn't resolve all of them adequately with the abilities and strength drawn from myself. However, mysteriously, most of my problems were resolved when i started praying to the lord. THat is the power of prayers and faith.

Anniversary and G12 conference

Anyway, just attended 4 days of G12 church conference and the lord's presence and heartbeat could be felt. I think our vision is one that would be able to build a good foundation and relationship. A dynamic and one that is coupled with interesting tots and anointing. May the love of the lord touch the lives of many.

ON top of that, she gave me another present. IT is a magic box.. Guess what is inside??
Gee it is hearts, flowers and something that can be used.. any guess? =P
Thanks dear for making this for me. Appreciate ur effort!! Love u lots =P

This is the anniversary present that my dar dar have given me. =P I gave her this book last year for her to continue to complete our story. I can’t believe that she has had faithfully update it. I feel really impreseed by her hard and consistent effort and work> Thanks darling!!

Thinking of finding ways to learn better?

I was talking to a friend yesterday in one of my econs lecture yesterday, and he shared with me how he learns. Learning in the form of rationalizing what we belief in so that after the analysis we be able to sort out our thoughts on what we believe in. (Pls correct me if i am wrong) =P.

It sets me thinking about the process of learning and absorbing new knowledge in the human minds.

"Psychologist Benjamin Bloom developed a classification scheme for types of learning which includes three overlapping domains: cognitive, psychomotor, and affective. Skills in the cognitive domain, the one most relevant to faculty and administrator training (Lee, 1999), include:

knowledge (remembering information);
comprehension (explaining the meaning of information);
application (using abstractions in concrete situations);
analysis (breaking down a whole into component parts); and
synthesis (putting parts together to form a new and integrated whole). "

Gardner's Seven Knowledge Types

Howard Gardner (1983, 1999) breaks down knowledge into seven types. He developed a theory of multiple intelligences based upon research in the biological sciences, logistical analysis, and psychology. These intelligences include:

1) Logical-mathematical intelligence: the ability to detect patterns, think logically, reason and analyze, and compute mathematical equations.
2) Linguistic intelligence: the mastery of oral and written language in self-expression and memory.
3) Spatial intelligence: the ability to recognize and manipulate patterns (large or small) in spatial relationships (e.g., pilots, sculptors, architects).

4) Musical intelligence: the ability to recognize and compose musical quality (pitches, tones), and content (rhythms, patterns) for production and performance.
5) Kinesthetic intelligence: the ability to use the body, or parts of the body to create products or solve problems (e.g., athletes, dancers, surgeons).
6) Interpersonal intelligence: the ability to recognize another's intentions, and feelings.
7) Intrapersonal intelligence: the ability to understand oneself and use the information to self-manage

Consider ways to learn

Often, learning occurs during periods of confusion, frustration, and struggle. For this reason, risk-taking on the part of the facilitator and the participants is necessary. Sharing personal experiences, posing questions, and presenting case studies can promote learning. In order to engage participants in critical thinking and facilitate problem-solving, consider the following suggestions (Brookfield, 1993):

Value and respect participants through word and action.
Listen attentively and provide support for efforts.
Identify and challenge assumptions.
Reflect back attitudes, rationalizations, and habitual behaviors.
Imagine and explore alternatives.
Practice reflective skepticism.
Model critical thinking through clarity, consistency, openness, and accessibility.
Teach theory by detailing phenomena and practical problems related to the theory.
Balance conceptual with concrete information.
Use a variety of sketches, plots, schematics, computer graphics, and physical demonstrations in addition to oral and written explanations in lectures and handouts.
Provide time for participants to reflect upon the material being presented.
Encourage active participation.

Learning is a eveyday process and it is part of living and part of a process of acquiring knowledge of the world. Everyone have potential gift to become as smart as Einstein. =P U just need to use ur underutilize brain cells and unlocking our brain's potential. Thinking of acquiring knowledge faster? Try making use of the tips above.
I realize that i haven’t been exercising much of the different forms of intelligence. Time to get my brain working... =P

Fulfilling my promise to blog often.. =P

Opps.. Oh NO! NOT Again.. 3 days never blog..den later.. will procrastinate den would have the desire to blog everyday le. MUst remain consistent.

Firstly, Thanks for Responding to my Johari's window. Gosh, i appreciate the kind words man!! =P

Have u ever had a bad conflict with somebody that u are close to. Or a bad conflict with someone who do not know very much personally. Have u gotten project mates whereby the attitude isn’t too good? Well, it is part and parcel of life.. Last Thursday I gotten into an intense discussion with my proj mates so much so that we discuss the matter for 3 hrs from 12am till 3. That is seemingly the very first time that I was really unhappy. Feeling stifled most of the time and not being given enough autonomy to discuss our ideas. The tutor was finally activated to help us resolve it. Sigh.. In the end only manage to sleep at 3 am. When I got a test on fri.

Well, sometimes it is hard to work together in a group when opinions differ. Given that this is true, I believe that it is always good to give the other party a chance to explain matters or discuss the issue further. It is as if we are born with 2 ears because we are supposed to listen more. I believe in that retrospect, fewer conflicts would result and hence barriers btw the 2 human blocks would have been removed. Thus I would like to urge u all to listen more and care more for each and everyone’s idea. Lets utilize the power of a group. =P

This is a Character test. DO it for me or create one for urself. =>

Oh, found this Johari window test of characters quite interesting.
It is a test to find out your characters from your friends.

SOme information on the test itself

"The Johari Window was invented by Joseph Luft and Harrington Ingham in the 1950s as a model for mapping personality awareness. By describing yourself from a fixed list of adjectives, then asking your friends and colleagues to describe you from the same list, a grid of overlap and difference can be built up.
Quick!! Take a look at it and hyper-linked there."

in this society where kind words are often seldomly express, i think that it is nice to give some kind words to ur friends too.

Gee, well, you can contribute to mine from the links below.

What is ur love languages?

REad something about love languages from somebody's blog.
Find that it is very applicable and i decided to CtL V and Ctl C here, i.e. to copy and paste. =P

Something on the 5 Love Languages:
I believe in the theory of the five love languages. In a nutshell, they are:

So what is ur love language?

Love Language #1: Words of affirmation
Compliments, words of encouragement, and requests rather than demands all affirm self-worth.

Love Language #2: Quality Time
Spending quality time together through sharing, listening and participating in joint meaningful activities.

Love Language #3: Receiving Gifts
Gifts are visual symbols of love, whether they are items you purchased or made, or are merely your own presence made available.

Love Language #4: Acts of Service
Helping another to do a chore, or carrying out an errand.

Love Language #5: Physical Touch
Physical touch, as a gesture of love, reaches to the depths of our being. As a love language, it is a powerful form of communication from the smallest touch on the shoulder to the most passionate kiss.

I think for me, My love language is 1 and 4. So if u wanna love me.. Affirm me more and commit some act of service for me!! Thanks!!

Are u double-minded, If yes read on.. If no, u can find out more about me! =>

Are u filled with double mindedness? I think for me, it seems like it always seems easier not to take a stand. Or rather to things that goes on daily and I am not very particular about, I am fine with either yes or no. That is, for e.g. to eat what for lunch, to decide on the small things in life. I think it is really fine with me to consider the choices that we can choose from. Perhaps I dun like to take a stand unless I have perfect knowledge about a particular stuff. And most of the time I dun have a particular knowledge on it.

Well, so what can we do with this double- minded,

2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

-James 1

Oh no… I shouldn’t be double-minded, I need to change quickly!

Happy Birthday Dear!!!

Hey dear!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ON 05/03/06
Feels so blessed that I am able to celebrate Miss Teo’s birthday on most of the occasions; that is together with her friends. We had 4 cakes, and I manage to have a taste of all four.
It had been a great time just spending some time with Miss Teo, friends and people. As I see my plans slowly materialize and my “Amazing Race” with Miss Teo working. Well, I did it in Miss Teo “style”

WOLS amazing race, but nonetheless, I am glad and relieved that she did enjoyed herself. Many thanks to all that have make an effort to help in organizing. Want to give thanks to Yenleng, Cailing, Jane, Wanzi, Ronghui and Mili, Fangxiang and many more who have help make the birthday celebration so successful.

It was particularly nice as I know that most of us were busy with our own commitments and school work but still make an effort to gather together and rejoice and celebration occasion like this.

It was really nice just to hang around at the Pistop café, whose concepts are similar to the settler’s café one, offering many different kind of board games for us to choose from. Well, it was really a great time of relaxation and in a way I feel so happy just to stay out with u people. Thanks for gathering together!! Cool… looking forward to the graduation trip with u pple. You have made my day.

I also realize what a great heart that Yating has. She is really someone who is really sensitive to the needs of her friends and offered her help when need be. I saw a totally new light of this beautiful characteristic of hers as she selflessly did something nice for a friend. You are really beautiful in our eyes. Stay true in that ways to ur friends and me okay!!! Well done and keep it up.

Anyway, have been petty busy with many different commitments and different assignments that I haven’t been able to sleep much recently. But thanks god that, I don’t know how, but I still manage to recover from a cold and sore throat. It must be because of a combination of the medicine that my dad gave me, the vitamin C in which I have been taking recently and the prayers that my cell bro, Weijie said for me. IT was really encouraging and great that
